Growing Up

Growing Up

Growing up is known to everybody, clearly things change as you grow older and sometimes you just wanna preserve those memories.
Many teenagers reconcile about their past when they see a familiar show or hear an old song and then the realization hits you that you're not in the past anymore. When I was younger I was in love with Spongebob, granted I do still watch it but it kinda changed for me, back when I was little that's the only thing I watched now I watch things like How I Met Your Mother, 2 and a half men, and The Walking Dead.
I think many remember when it came to falling asleep on the couch or in the car and when you'd wake up you'd be on your bed, that doesn't happen anymore.
Remember when Hot Wheels were the coolest things around? I remember every week I'd buy one now I keep them cluttered in an old lunchbox I got when I was in the 5th grade. I'm pretty sure watching Toy Story 3 was one of those things people can relate to on how as you grow older the things you saw and liked before are just their like artifacts and when Andy had the choice to give away the toys that's like telling everybody nothing lasts forever eventually you're gonna get to that point and you have to grow up. I don't want to grow up. I remember all those fun times with my parents, my fears, having those days where nothing really mattered but as time progressed now everything is about: School, College, getting a job, finding a career, getting married, owning a house, having children and it just happened to quick.
I remember I was little my dream was of become older because of all those unfair rules but now that we've reached that age I wanna go back.
I want to return to when I watched Saturday night cartoons.
I wanna return to when I was afraid of the dark.
Heck, I'd even return to peeing my pants when I got scared.
It just goes by too fast, like you wanna preserve every little chance you get because soon it'll all disappear and you'll become and adult and that's it. It's over.
I think the transition of child to adolescent teenager is quite remarkable because you don't give much thought of what would've happened in the future you just go with the motions
Growing up is not what I expected at all, it's the complete opposite really.
I have a 2 year old niece that has loads of energy and sometimes her hyperactivity makes me tired really quick and my bones crack a lot too and my mom makes those jokes off me being an old man already.
We can't help it we're getting old.
No one wants to grow up.

Persepolis Blog #1

During the Islamic Revolution, it was a rule for girls to wear a viel. Her mother was a demonstater and on one of the articles they took a picture of her and she had to hide. Marjane wanted to be a prophet because the maid didn't eat with them and she didn't feel right. Castro was a dictator, Gandi was a peaceful man who wanted peace. Marjane talked to god as of it were a way to find what she wanted. Marjane learned her grandfather was a prince. Her father went to prison for demonstrating and his job was to take pictures of demonstrations which is illegal. There was a fire in a theatre and they didn't want anyone to leave so they let them burn. Her maid had a secret love with their neighbor but it couldn't work do to class divisions. Shah had made alot of rules that no one liked and wanted his reign to end so one day he had to leave.

6 Word Memoir Final Draft

                                                  The man who walked away......Forever.

I chose this story because well to me it's the most easiest to write about. I didn't really know my dad but what i do know about him is that he mistreated my mom and sisters. I was 5 when my parents got divorced so I don't remember my dad much, basically anything about him. I did see him like a couple of years ago for my sisters graduation, unfortunately he was with another woman, A new family. He tried to come into our lives again by saying he'll by whatever we want, but it was pointless and stupid to think one thing can make us forgive him. He left my mom to take care of me and my 2 older sisters, she didn't have enough money but we lived, he never even paid child support. My mother basically told me stuff about him but for some reason she still forgave him. He basically taught me to be better in the future, to never walk out of my future kids life and then come back like nothing ever happened. The image basically shows a man walking away and never turning back. Sometimes I wonder how life would have been with him, probably better, who knows.

Whale Rider Summary

I think the movie was pretty interesting but also confusing with the whale's. Pai wa always seen as an outside because her grandfather never liked her and because her twin brother was suppose to be the whale rider but he died. Pai always wanted to prove herself to her grandfather that she could actually do something.
Pai wasn't valued by the others because she was a girl. Pai's grandmother felt bad about Pai because her grandfather didn't really like her and he was always being mean to her. The grandmother felt it was unjust for Pai to be excluded from the tribe due to the fact that she's a girl. He kicked her out of the house because she wouldn't listen to him. Pai's uncle was teaching her the ways of the tribe without letting the grandpa knowing. The Grandfather accepted her because she proved that she's important and led the whales offshore. The last scene symbolizes that Pai was always going to be the Whale Rider and that it doesn't always have to be a female to lead the tribe. The dieing whale that was washed up on shore symbolizes that there tribe was falling apart
